Anyone Up For A Challenge to Keep A Dorm Clean?

It is that time of year for students to be off to college, and for many this will be their first time away from home.  One thing for students to keep in mind when away from home is how to keep their dorm clean.  Being clean and organized helps reduce stress and creates a pleasant environment to study and live in.  Here we have put together some tips for students heading off to college for the first time.

  • Dorm Room: In the dorm room you will be eating at some point. A small bottle of dish soap and sponge are great for the occasional dish or coffee cup.  Another thing to keep in mind are crumbs and spills. To take care of those right ways use a small dustpan or handheld vacuum.  Paper towels are a must have for spills along with some type of general surface cleaner.

  • Germs: Staying healthy at school is a necessity so you can stay on top of your schoolwork. Some disposable disinfecting wipes are a perfect and practical solution.  Use them often on door handles, throughout the bathroom, refrigerator and closet doors.

  • Laundry: Towels should always be hung up in a way that allows them to dry thoroughly in between uses and should go no more than 3-5 uses before it is time for a wash. Sheets should be washed every 2 weeks.  Socks and underwear should go without saying that they need washed after every use.  The rest of your clothing can be washed using common sense.  If you and your roommate are doing wash together, invest in a laundry net bag.  They are inexpensive and will help keep your items separate.

Classmaids will be happy to handle these tasks for you so you can focus on your studies.  To help you through the school year please book online at www.classmaids.com or call us at (561) 470-9200.
